imageWARE
Scan Manager v4.0 provides an efficient method of capturing
and indexing large volumes of documents. It also provides a variety of export
formats, which allow Scan Manager to interoperate with most document retrieval
systems.
| Scan Manager accepts documents from four different sources: |
-
-
Image files including TIFF, JPEG and Bitmap
-
Any application via the imageWARE virtual print driver
-
imageRUNNER digital copiers via the Universal Send option
|
|
With Scan manager, you’ll spend less time imaging your documents,
and do so with greater accuracy. Imaged documents are only as good as
the index used to locate them. Without an accurate index, you may not
be able to find documents when you need them. Scan Manager’s automatic
and assisted indexing features help eliminate costly indexing errors.
- Smart indexing can speed up manual data entry by zooming and highlighting
areas on a document.
- Field masking and validation ensure that alphanumeric, numeric and
dates are input correctly. You can even restrict a field to only numeric
or alphanumeric characters.
- Custom keyword lists let Scan Manager predict what the user is typing,
saving keystrokes and reducing the opportunity for error.
- Field checksums can use the contents of an indexing field to validate
itself, such as barcodes or serial numbers.
Scan manager can also perform a number of automatic
indexing operations using optical character recognition and optical
mark recognition. |
Set OCR zones to index automatically
Scan Manager can read machine printed type and hand printed numbers
and letters. OCR can also request user confirmation of data after
the OCR process, giving an added assurance that your documents are
indexed properly, and in a timely fashion. |
|
Extract data from document barcodes
Scan Manager supports many kinds of barcodes including UPC, JAN/ EAN,
ITF, CODE39, CODE128, and CODABAR. The reader can also request operator
to verify indexing if it fails to read a barcode. |
|
| Scan Manager was designed to tightly integrate with
the imageWARE Document Manager
System. When imaging and indexing are completed, documents can be
released to Document Manager with one click of the mouse. Scan Manager
can also export your documents and their indexing into several common
formats. Images can be output as TIFF, Bitmap or Jpeg. Indexing data
can be output as comma-delimited,
tab-delimited, or space-delimited text files, which are compatible
with most database and spreadsheet applications. |
|
With Scan Manager, it’s easy to divide your imaging tasks across
many users. Scan Manager binds your documents together into worksheets.
A worksheet can be a single batch of documents, or a whole box. Scan
Manager allows users to forward worksheets to other users in the workgroup.
When the scanner operator finishes imaging a batch of documents, that
worksheet can be forwarded to another user for indexing. Most document
scanners can process documents much faster than they can be indexed.
Keep your scanner running and distribute the data entry work for improved
imaging turnaround. |
|
Groups also serve another purpose, to limit users’ privileges with
in the workgroup. You may not want your data entry personnel to have the
ability to add documents to a worksheet, or to be able to delete documents
or worksheets from the workgroup. Scan Manager allows you to control these
privileges down to the user level.
Barcode, Integrated OCR, and multi-format export capabilities are almost
a requirement of a modern imaging system. Scan Manager goes further by adding
features to simplify your daily imaging tasks.
-
Form Recognition
OCR works great if all your documents are the same, but what if
you manage different versions of the same document with each version
having a different placement of critical information? You can teach
Scan Manager to recognize different types of forms. OCR zones can be
setup for each document type, and dynamically applied.
-
Customizable Tool Bars
Sometimes the buttons and function you use most in a program
are not easily accessible. With Scan Manager, you can change the layout
of a tool bar so the most commonly used items are the most accessible.
You can even choose between two sizes of icons and buttons!
-
Jobs
Jobs are a way of automating certain commonly used operations.
Jobs can trigger automatic indexing, scanning / importing or searching.
Jobs store all the settings required to complete a task. For example,
a scanning job stores the DPI settings, the page size, brightness, contrast,
etc… Jobs are accessed via buttons on the main screen. This gives
your users one touch access with zero configuration.
